Meatballs with Brown Rice

Ingredients:

  • Ground beef
  • Brown rice (or you can use regular rice, it's personal choice)
  • Onion
  • Garlic
  • Olive oil
  • Gourmet seasoning
  • Tomato sauce
  • Parsley (optional)
  • Ground ginger (optional)
  • Rosemary (optional)

Preparation:

  • If you're using fresh ground beef make balls out of them and leave them in the fridge for half an hour; if you're using frozen ground beef, make sure to squeeze the water out when you unfroze it first and then make meatballs out of them and leave it in the fridge for half an hour.
  • Take a pot and put the brown rice in and let if heat up and boil. It takes longer to cook the brown rice then the regular white rice. When I'm preparing it for myself, rice that I eat take around 20 minutes to cook. Also add a gourmet seasoning to the rice. Occasionally mix the rice.
  • Rice will be done before the meatballs, so you just move it to the side and the let it sit.
  • While the rice is cooking cut the onion and garlic into small pieces.
  • Put the pot on the stove and let it heat up for couple of minutes and then add the olive oil and let it heat up.
  • After the oil is heated add the onion and garlic and meatballs into the pot. Don't mix them, just leave them on the one side for minute and then turn them over on the other side. Just be careful that the meatballs don't fall apart while you're turning them.
  • Now you can add water, you can add warm water or cold water. The main difference is that with warm water it would start to boil quickly. I've made it both ways and there's no difference in taste.
  • Add one table spoon of gourmet seasoning, you can add more later if it's not salty enough. Add tomato sauce, parsley, ground ginger and rosemary as well. The reason I've added these are option it's because, you don't have to add them, but the add up to the flavor.
  • Wait until the water starts to boil and turn the heat down to a medium, let it boil for 25 minutes and it's done.
  • You serve it by adding rice into the plate, and then add meatballs.

Another thing I wanted to add, you can add rice to the meatballs and cook it all together, it would only not look visually good when you serve it, but it would be a bit simpler to make it. But this is optional as well.

Enjoy your meal!
